Some of you may have already heard about this National Review story by David French that came out yesterday. Rush Limbaugh talked about it on his program today, from what I understand. In the story, French delves into some of the details and history of the drawn-out, shockingly invasive, and largely fruitless John Doe investigations by Milwaukee County DA John Chisholm that he initiated in order to punish Scott Walker and his allies for daring to take on Big Union.
A preview:
As if the home invasion, the appropriation of private property, and the verbal abuse weren’t enough, next came ominous warnings.
Don’t call your lawyer.
Don’t tell anyone about this raid. Not even your mother, your father, or your closest friends.
Though I’ve followed this story in the news over the last few years, I still found David French’s article a compelling read. It’s not exactly a short piece, but if you have not checked it out yet and have a few moments to read it, I encourage you to do so. Anyone who values their freedom of expression should find it troubling to see such bitter, vengeful people in powerful positions muscle and threaten their political opposition in such a disturbing fashion.
