MoveOn.org and SJW Robert Reich have banded together to declare a new “right” for us all – universal child care. President Obama also touched on this topic during his 2015 State of the Union address. Basically, they say if you choose to become a parent, your employer and the taxpayers owe it to you to pay for your childcare. Yes, they really are saying that.

So let’s break it down:
1. “There is no justification for paying women less than men for the same job.” Psst. We already have a law that requires equal pay, and as we all know, the myth that women with the same job, same experience, same education, and same amount of time on the job as a man get paid less than a man has been thoroughly debunked. But hey, it still makes for a good outrage, right?
2. “Working parents also need regular working hours. Employers should be required to provide all workers predictable schedules, rather than being on call.” Uh, sounds good, right? What about government jobs? Should police, firefighters, and the military be required to provide regular work schedules? Bad guys, electrical wiring, and terrorists take note – no robbing and killing, no fires, and no wars except during pre-scheduled working hours, umkay?
3. “High quality reliable pre-school and after school care are critically important to children and their working parents and should be a basic right, financed by employers and taxpayers.” So you see, if you choose to be a parent, your boss and your neighbors should foot the bill for your childcare. Can you imagine applying this logic elsewhere in your life? I choose to eat steak and lobster every night for the next 18 years. It’s critically important to me and to my children that I stay healthy so…Yo! All the peoples of the land! Feed me!
4. “Families should have the time and resources to care for newborns and for family members who become ill. That’s why employers should be required to provide paid family medical leave for all women and men.” Wow! What a great idea! Uh, Mr. Reich? What is FMLA? Isn’t it that thing signed into law in 1993, that you implemented when you were Secretary of Labor?
Like they did with our health insurance, requiring us to pay for insurance coverage we don’t need, the left wants to require us to pay for childcare whether or not we have children who need childcare. I wonder, if such a law comes to fruition will we be fined, I mean taxed…er I mean fined if we don’t pay it? To think that it is a right to have others pay for our responsibilities because of the choices we make is delusional and erodes all of our freedoms.
