Remember when President Obama gave a speech to a joint session of Congress in 2009 and declared that illegals would not be covered under the Affordable Care Act? You may better remember it as the speech in which Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted out, “You lie!” in response to that declaration, which caused all the special snowflakes to get the vapors and was condemned by members of both parties. Rep. Wilson apologized for his outburst that evening. After all, it was highly unprofessional.
Know what else is highly unprofessional? The President of the United States blatantly lying to the American people. Since the enactment of the ACA, most of what Obama and the Democrats said in order to gain support for the bill has been proven to be false–you can keep your doctor, your insurance, etc. And last year, more than 100,000 illegals who had purchased coverage were kicked off for failure to provide documentation.
California, a state already in a financial crisis, is set to add to the lie that illegals won’t be able to buy insurance through the exchanges. Via Breitbart.com:
If SB 4 passes the next two stages in its quest for approval, it would allow for illegal aliens in California to purchase health insurance through Covered California, pending a federal waiver; allow for illegal alien children aged 19 and under to enroll in Medi-Cal, the state’s insurance program for the poor; and allow for a limited number of adults aged 19 and over to enroll in the Medi-Cal program as state funding is made available.
In addition to yet another “misspeak” regarding what ACA will and won’t do, the estimated cost to the taxpayers for this new law is as high as $740 million annually. That’s the government’s estimate, so you might as well round that up to $1 billion a year, which is sure to help California’s already dire debt problem.
