The CO2 Response: We Have to Finish What They Started

Three national addresses about terrorism in eight days. The Prez is trying quite hard to convince America that he has the Isull situation handled. He’s also doing his best to convince America that we’re a bunch of Islamophobic bigots.

Obama didn’t have a whole lot of new things to say in this week’s address to the nation. Very similar to his last two addresses, just with some variation of the words.

He started out with the same neutral, caring-sounding terms he does in most of his weekly addresses before getting divisive. America’s strong. Its people refuse to be ruled by fear. Christmas parades go on because we can’t let terrorists change how we live.

He moved on to describing how our military is working to destroy the JV team. Strikes from the air, Spec-ops on the ground, taking out Isull leaders, oil tankers, and such. “Our message to these killers is simple–we will find you, and justice will be done.”

Obama then explained what his administration will be doing in the week ahead. He’ll go to the Pentagon and the National Counterterrorism Center to review stuff concerning national security and the war-not-war in the Middle East. The Commander-in-Chief talked about it like it’s some new or rare thing for him, like we’re supposed to be impressed that he’s taking steps to ensure the safety of the country.

He also added that the Department of Homeland Security plans to “update its alert system to ensure Americans get more information, including steps that you and your communities can take to be vigilant and to stay safe.” It’s somewhat surprising to hear Obama revive the post-9/11 “if you see something, say something” mantra, even if it is a disingenuous call for vigilance.

How is it disingenuous? Immediately after telling us to be alert and let authorities know if we notice suspicious activity, he gave us the now-familiar line that bigotry is what Isull wants because such prejudice and discrimination makes more Muslims become jihadists who wish to shoot up holiday parties and military bases and detonate bombs at marathons and fly planes into skyscrapers. We are to blame for creating mass murderers. So stop being racist and xenophobic and all those other shameful behaviors. See something, say something, but do not profile. Prejudicial and discriminatory profiling “undermines our national security,” the President essentially said.

A terrorist could very well be a white person–likely, in fact, if DHS PSAs are any indication. “Stay true to who we are as Americans,” Obama reminded us. We are apparently politically-correct pantywaists, afraid of offending anyone but white people. They’re the privileged class, so they can weather a bit of finger-pointing in their direction.

14 Americans may very well be dead because of our politically-correct culture, as we learned when a neighbor of the San Bernardino terrorists explained that he didn’t say anything when he saw something because he’d been conditioned to not be so profiley. Giving everyone the benefit of the doubt is going to get more Americans killed.

It’s an insulting two-faced message he’s sending to Americans. See something. Say something. But don’t judge. It’s kind of like when a dog owner teases his pet by fake-throwing a tennis ball for it to fetch. The owner pretends to throw the ball. The dog looks in the direction where the ball’s supposed to be. It doesn’t see the ball. The dog looks at its master, ears perked, then back in the direction where the ball should have gone. The dog wonders, where am I supposed to look, boss? The owner messes with the dog some more, saying, “Where’s is it? Go find it, go find the ball!” The dog starts sniffing and scouring in random spots, but it’s a futile effort because the master is still holding the ball behind his back. In this case, the ball is the generic “threat” of terror. The closest Obama came to identifying the threat is again mentioning those with a “twisted interpretation of Islam.”

But thankfully, Obama said, “Americans are coming together to reaffirm the core values that keep us strong.” Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives, Christians, Jews, and professional athletes have been reassuring Muslims that they’re all A-okay.

Obama said he thinks of “the woman in Texas carrying a sign saying, ‘We love our Muslim neighbors.'” The woman to which he referred was part of a small group of Unitarian Universalists who greeted Muslims arriving at an Islamic center in Webster, TX, earlier this month. News media such as the Daily Mail portrayed the crowd of greeters as Christians, but Unitarian Universalism is about as noncommittal of a religion as one could get. U.U. is a progressive religion involving a hodgepodge of dissimilar beliefs, including deism, neo-paganism, Judaism, Christianity, and even Islam and atheism (though atheism is not a religion, we’re told…uh huh). Being all about the diversity makes its members feel good, and that’s what’s important.

Of course it’s wrong to be prejudiced toward all Muslims. But this message the President, Democrats, and the MSM convey insults everyone’s intelligence. They make it sound as though Americans are forcing Muslims sit at the back of the bus, to use different bathrooms and drinking fountains, like we’re siccing the dogs and fire hoses on them. No. We’re exercising caution, and we’re acknowledging that the very real threat of terrorism stems from a brand of Islam that is shared by millions upon millions of people around the world. They perceive America as the enemy. America embodies liberty, independence, and freedom–concepts that are incompatible with Islamic law. Their goal is to create a worldwide caliphate so that every last man, woman, and child on earth is compliant with sharia. Those who don’t understand that and underestimate the lengths these people will go to achieve their goal need to wake up from their utopian haze.

Christianity is by far the dominant religion in America, but it is vilified far more often because Christians have been mainly turning the other cheek, complaining about the character attacks but not slapping back as aggressively as the Left would make it seem. People can only endure getting slapped around for so long.

As long as we keep up this delusion that the threat to our present and future security doesn’t originate from within Islam itself, when we pretend that “we’re all in this together…united in defense of the country that we love,” as Obama concludes…we are screwed. We are not like we were in the immediate days after 9/11. We’re not united. We are divided. But if we united behind the progressive mindset of acceptance of all beliefs, we might as well submit now and get it over with.

Nope. Not gonna happen. Not without a fight. Enough with the lectures and the insinuations and the blame, as if we’re guilty of leaving people no other choice but to slaughter us. Enough with the pussyfooting, concern-trolling, and blaming. We didn’t start this war, but it’s way past time we finished it.
