Guest Post: “Our” Petulant Child

Today we have a special post by a new contributor to our site. Visitors who frequent our comment section know her as the lovely and talented QueenB. This particular entry is quite timely with the upcoming GOP debate on Fox News tonight. Enjoy!

By now, we’ve all heard about Donald Trump’s comment regarding Megyn Kelly after her “War on Women” question in the Fox News GOP Presidential Primary Debate.  On one hand, I cannot believe this is even a thing, but on the other, Trump should not be considered for the GOP nod for this reason alone.

To be perfectly honest, while watching the debate, I did think Megyn did have a bit of a “bitchy” attitude.  This is just my opinion of how she came off to me, and I can’t really put my finger on what it was, it was just there.  When she began asking her War on Women question, I was thinking, Oh, what is this BS?

But as the question continued, it dawned on me that Kelly had a point.  Whether we like it or not, the Democrats will run on the “War on Women” platform, especially if Hillary is their nominee.  How will Trump deal with that?  Well, now we know.  He will deal with that by dismissing the woman who asked the question by saying she’s bleeding from, well…somewhere.  That went well.

I am all for Trump not being politically correct and calling attention to some of the real problems in this country–even in the way he does it.  Sometimes, he cracks me up.  I have a sense of humor and have even been known to laugh at a period joke or two.  However, this was before he was running for President…as a Republican. He could get away with this crap all day if he ran as a Democrat.

I’m not saying he should suddenly be PC, but he has to show us, the people whom he is asking for their vote, how he would conduct himself as President.  What will he tweet about Angela Merkel if she says something he doesn’t like?  If Trump was President, can any of us feel confident that he would make a crass statement about any world leader?  There is a difference between not being PC and just being an ass.

Those of us who consider ourselves Republicans say we want a leader with substance.  We are sick of the current petulant child in the White House, as much for his immature behavior as for his policies.  Why on Earth would we want to get rid of one thin-skinned thrower of temper tantrums for another?  Just because he’s on our side? (And just when did Trump become a Republican, anyway?)

By making his statement, Trump skirted the substance of the question.   He went with an immature gag. He went with emotion.  He didn’t listen to the question, and he dismissed a legitimate concern by attacking the messenger.  That’s what Obama does.

There are theories that Megyn Kelly set up Trump to show the world what Trump really is.  If this is true, it went better then she could have ever expected.  His reaction, with one tweet, shows that he is nothing more than Barack Obama with bad hair.  Only worse, because these days, Trump says he’s a Republican.

UPDATE: January 27, 2016

As noted, the above was written on August 9, 2015. By the time I submitted it, we had already talked Trump’s idiocy to death, and I figured Trump would be over and done with and back to The Apprentice by now. Well, here we are, almost six months later, and we’ve gone further down the Trump hole than I ever thought possible.

As you’re certainly aware, Donald Trump has decided to boycott the final Republican primary debate to be held on January 28th, all because his favorite blond, Megyn Kelly–who he is in no way afraid of–will again be the moderator. This is a YUGE problem in Trumpland, and he is having none of it.

Personally, Trump’s absence at the debate is music to my ears. I make a point to concentrate on what he says, and every time, it is the most ridiculous bunch of word salad I have ever heard. He speaks in quarter-sentences, is all over the place as far as topics, and generally makes no sense. Reading a transcript is even more hysterical. Except that it isn’t. There are far too many people are eating up all this with a spoon.

Through these past 6 months, we have watched Donald Trump go from praising someone to doing his best to humiliate them because they dared to disagree with him. His temper tantrums have grown completely tiresome and his skin has grown so thin, he is almost transparent. We have this in the White House already. We cannot have it there again.

If you are still thinking Trump might be “okay” as President, please reconsider. I completely understand that he has fought back against the press and he had been a breath of politically-incorrect fresh air. However, he has proven his attitude will be no different from Obama’s on, well, just about everything, it seems, if you consider what he proposes.

And you know you don’t want another petulant child, just because he’s “our” petulant child.
