I know that I am not the best example of a Christian that exists. No one is per the Bible. We all fall short. I say this to preference my stance on my Christian faith and, how I feel, it doesn’t align with the Progressive view on many things. Just because I may not seem as if I do everything like Jesus would want me to doesn’t mean I have not studied my Bible and put in the work to understand what it is I believe.
Recently, I went into a back and forth with some overtly zealous Progressive Christian who didn’t like what I had to say about charity. Due to my own desire to own my own food bank and feed the less fortunate, I have seen how government intervention stops lots of forward mobility in what charities can achieve.
@mrs_pinky85 @PolitiBunny Please don't claim to be Christian as you advocate such cruelty.

See, Progressives love to spend unchecked and when it is other people’s money. Unfortunately, giving to our poor and helping others comes at a cost. Many of us conservatives realize through the last eight years of over-regulation, people haven’t been able to give at the level that we need it. We in fact realize that so many of our citizens are poor due to horrible liberal policies that were intended to help our most needy in the first place. And our churches, who pay no tax, are constantly beaten up because of beliefs are not in align with worldly justified sins SO instead of spending more time doing our mission, we spend too much fighting and sticking up for our core beliefs that aren’t knew to anyone paying attention in the last 2,000 years.
Allowing charitable organizations to gain funding from taxpayers’ money without our consent is against the right to free will. Yes, people SHOULD want to give especially Christians but not at the guns of government force. People would be free to set up the organizations as they see fit and more freely to pick and choose their donations if the government is out of the way. For example, I can set up a food bank specific for those who have diabetic dietary needs like my parents instead of my dollars going to charity food banks that don’t regard the quality of the food they feed the poor. These same individuals who will in turn have medical issues that need to be addressed down the line. Many food charities don’t consider the slop they drop in front of the most vulnerable because it is free to them. But, if you feed someone something that doesn’t consider their dietary needs, are you really helping them in the long run?
I can understand if my Christianity is chastised on the vulgarity of my mouth, the slowness at addressing my personal feelings towards LGBT people and my own mental health issues. I will take my flaws and hits as they come. What I will not tolerate is the Progressive political party using the teachings of Jesus Christ to bludgeon other politically aligned people to submit to their will only to please some erroneous notion of Biblical charity. We are the New Testament church and are not under the law. We are given free will to volunteer our cheerful giving especially in a way that helps our most vulnerable effectively and not keep them in a cycle of dependence.
My love for my neighbor wants him/her to be able to depend more on God and to get what they need in a real manner. In fact, it is one of the reasons I have a degree in finance. I want to help our poor successfully climb out of poverty and not to stay trapped to feel the Liberal a pat on the back.
I not only want to please Jesus and fulfill his command to be charitable. I want to be productive. Progressive policies are not constructive in digging many out of poverty and in fact keep them stuck. How am I not a model Christian wanting to do more by getting our failed government out of the way? Many people continually need help out of poverty and never climb out after 50 plus years of Progressive policies. Progressive Christianity, forceful charity, is a hindrance and not a solution.
