Yesterday the governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rossello, went on several news television shows trying to make the case for Puerto Rico, currently a colonial territory, becoming the 51st state in the union.
Here is Neil Cavuto’s interview.
What are your thoughts on this issue? I know we have a regular commenter on the site who is from Puerto Rico and we have many viewers and commenters who faithfully keep abreast of issues outside the U.S. border, so I’m very interested to hear your views.
I don’t have much to say on the subject because I don’t have enough facts to form a conclusion yet, but I will be looking at this more in depth if there becomes serious consideration on the matter. So far my only thoughts are: (a) the debt–as Mr. Cavuto pointed out and the governor admitted Puerto Rico is in a heap of debt and that’s concerning, and (b)what does Puerto Rico bring to the table in terms of resources?
