This past Sunday marked the one hundred year anniversary of the armistice that effectively ended the war that didn’t end all wars. It altered the course of history, and not just in a trivial way. Germany and France lost a good chunk of the men of a generation, Communism triumphed in the largest nation in the planet, and in general fanatical political movements took a boost from the war. And it all started with the assassination of a moderate political figure that wanted to give more rights to the minorities in his nation.
