Happy hump day! Today’s post is another fine submission from Mrs. P! Thank you, as always!!
On a personal note, after years in the making, the day in finally here!!! Late tonight, our fearless leader and your queen will meet in person for the first time!! I can’t wait!!!
I am tired of the constant complaining from people who have never been outside of the continental U.S. to a third world country. I am tired of America being blamed for all the problems of the world. I am tired of people who hate this country, my home, asking for my vote. I am tired of hearing how bad America is from people who refuse to leave. I am tired of America being describes as horrible as hordes of immigrants flood our border, as people fight shark infest waters to come here. I am tired of people thinking that we do everything wrong. I am tired of the sentiment that America has to do what other countries do. I am tired, of having to tell people why I love America and am glad to have been born here.
It is not that I served my country that I defend the United States. It is my own life experiences and how I navigated certain tragedies to get to where I am today. Some one like me is usually described as poor, uneducated and untraveled. Coming from an inner city that is the murder capital of the world, I have seen what makes America look bad. I have memories of almost being murdered. I have memories of fearing walking alone at night. I know America isn’t perfect. America is far from a utopia of any kind.
Yet, this same America gave me a way out. America has lots of opportunities, heck you can even Tweet the President and vent about how much you do or don’t like him. In America, you can read whatever you like and practice what religion you want. Yes, people are openly able to mock beloved spiritual leader, religious rituals and holidays; that is freedom. You can sell things on the internet; you can make videos and donate yo charity. America is the land of opportunity. Why would people come here? Because despite any claims of racism, sexism, homophobia or xenophobia, America has given people a chance.
There are gay rich people, there are minority CEOs and there are women on the stock exchange. In America, a girl can walk around half-naked or fully dressed. In America, a homeless girl can win scholarships to the top college and take care of her siblings. In America, a 100-year-old Black man can be a Brigadier General. In America, a former stripper can become a famous music star. In America, people in prison can come out with a second chance, a woman who gave birth in Prison is now her own boss.
I am tired of the glass half empty crowd, the people who didn’t plan for their future, the ones that chose career fields with low pay, the ones who have no savings and spend out of control, the ones who didn’t work for a scholarship of some kind, the one that blames everyone else for their failures, the ones that work hard doing the same things and expecting different results; trashing the United States. People who walk around with knowledge in their fingertips crying about not knowing how to get ahead. Many have paved their own way, many overcame slaver or segregation. Many didn’t sit back and just whine about how bad things are; they found realistic and workable solutions.
I am tired of people bashing the United States. They compare the bad in America with the so called good somewhere else when the comparisons are not equal. They point to white majority countries, countries with less people, or misrepresent information altogether. Go live there then. If it is so much better why stay. My only conclusion is that it is not.
I joined the United States Army to do something better with my life. I wanted to get away from the city that is the murder capital of the world.
I am tired of Americans not leaving if they do not like it.
