Happy Monday FRians! This Monday’s post is by Mrs. P! Thank you! Have a good week!
I get it it, we lost. But I will never accept defeat. I don’t when I lose in life and I won’t because of this election. It was bred in me. You guessed it? Yes, in the U.S. Army.
The Soldier’s Creed is said day and night in boot camp by new recruits as part of their daily basic training routine. The middle part of the saying is called the Warrior Ethos or what I like to refer to as the words soldiers live by. The line that is also the title “I will never accept defeat” lives in my veins. I still have my original Army Dog tags with those four lines that I wore around my neck for five years.
Life isn’t rainbows and butterflies. It is fully of wins and losses. If you accept defeat, why did you even try in the first place? Failure teaches us many things. It teaches what doesn’t work. It teaches us who we are in life. It teaches us that everything won’t go our way. It is with these lessons we learn our most valuable lessons, that we can eventually win.
As I comment on social media seemingly to offensively attack Republicans, it isn’t because I am kicking a puppy while it is down. My goal is to remind people that defeat in a battle doesn’t mean you won’t win the war. Imagine if soldiers had the mindset to accept defeat. Would we push through to the next battle? Would we press on with wounds, through pain or through sudden death? Soldiers are humans too. We just do not accept defeat. That’s the difference!
And yes, I view the defeat as a battle in war. Our ancestors thought of it that way. The original Republicans who fought to end slavery thought that way. Why shouldn’t we? This is why I sound so harsh on Twitter as conservatives pretend to be surprised that our own warnings came to fruition. It is like people expected the fight to be fair (where did I get this from).
The Republican Party is not a victim in this fight. Everything that was happening was all preplanned and we knew it would happen. And yet, we failed to avoid it! We are part of what took place on November 3rd and Jan 5th. Our strategy, our implementation and our focus was not enough.
But what do we do now? First, we stop with the defeatist attitude. Attitude gets your mind right for the work that is to come. That could mean finding like minded people, joining community organizations, or even just getting your own household together. Whatever you can contribute that isn’t a resounding “giving up” mentally helps.
The Warrior Ethos is said by men and women who took the oath to uphold the U.S Constitution. You can repeat the words and get where I am coming from.
