Anheuser Busch in an effort to be more “inclusive” hired a spokesman that caused the value of their stock to drop like a stone. The team behind this was so convinced at how correct they were that the backlash seems to have caught them by surprise.
Various cities are pushing for defunding police and stop prosecutions of criminals with the belief that things will suddenly be fair for all. The lawlessness and rampant crime that resulted is hand waved away as “systemic racism.”
In both cases, the consequences were immediate and damaging. Why do the people that implement such things ignore that?
First is the possibility that the people behind such actions are true believers. They think that they are the right side of history and they are the enlightened ones who will bring us to utopia. We little people are merely interchangeable cogs in The Great Machine and our resistance to their ideas is simply an aberration.
The other side are the people who are immune to the effects of their ideas. You would see that in the party faithful of the communist’s governments who live opulent lifestyles free from want and crime. In the case of the DAs who give criminals free reign, they live in gated communities that will never experience the problems that plague The Other.
How to cure it? You can’t. We have had the Good Idea Fairy for as long as we’ve had civilization. You can minimize the damage is causes and you can continue to speak out against the problems. Don’t be ashamed to speak your mind and don’t worry about what the blind have to say. And make sure you only buy good beer.
